Recommendation to copy iPhotos from an old Macbook

I have a very old Macbook OS X Yosmite that has not been functional for 10+ years. I have 120 MB of photos and videos that I want to upload to Google Photos. What is the best way to remove these photos and videos from this old Macbook. I prefer to not require any uploading of software to the old Macbook and exporting to an external drive could take days to complete. I am willing to take the computer somewhere and pay a service for a fast export of the data. Any recommendations would be appreciated. Thank you.

Do you really mean only 120 MB of photos? That are just a few image files. Copying to an external drive or stick should not take long. Or do you mean 120 GB ?

Do you now have a new Mac where you want to use the photos? If the old Mac is running OS X 10.10.3 you could use it to create a new Photos Library from the old iPhoto Library. Any newer Mac with macOS 13 Ventura or later can no longer migrate iPhoto Libraries to Photos for Mac, but your old Mac can still do it and save your iPhoto Library as a new Photos Library, so you do not lose the events and albums. Then copy the new Photos Library to your Mac on a stick or external drive. This library can be opened in Photos for Mac on the new Mac.

Alternately you can copy the old iPhoto Library to your new Mac and use "File > Import" on your new Mac to import selected photos from the old iPhoto Library.

By not functional do you mean you can't boot it up or do you mean you haven't used it in 10+ years.

If it's the former you're between a rock and a hard place. You will need to remove the drive, put it in an enclosure and use another Mac to try to access it and recover the image files.

It it's the latter then you're already been given the way to recover those image files.

Thank you. Yes, it is 120 GB. I do not have a new Mac and primarily use a Dell for personal use. It sounds like the best way to get these images to a cloud format is to put the photos on a external drive likely taking many many hours then upload to the cloud service. Maybe doing it in smaller chunks will be easier. Is this what you would recommend?
