Apple Watch Mic, 'Always On' (All Generations)

Dear Mr Cook and Senior Vice Presidents, I am writing to raise a serious privacy and workplace concern about my Apple Watch Ultra: the microphone appears to remain active for hotword detection (passive listening for a trigger phrase) and has begun activating in meetings, attempting to respond to remarks that were not directed at Siri.

In a corporate context this is unacceptable, since even the perception of passive audio capture undermines confidentiality and may breach policy. I request an immediate software change that gives me clear agency over the device, including a simple microphone on-off toggle, a persistent status indicator, and the option to disable all always-listening features entirely.

I also ask for a transparent technical explanation of what precisely triggers the device to assume a Siri prompt, and why a straightforward method to silence the microphone at will is not currently available on the watch or within the Apple Watch app. In line with Apple’s stated commitment to privacy by design and default, please direct the relevant teams to implement this functionality as a priority so users can prevent inadvertent activation during sensitive discussions.

Kind regards

I await your response.
