difficulty deleting an old macmail address.

I am using a MacBook pro Tahoe OS. I have deleted an old gmail mail account. But when senders try to fill in my e-mail address the deleted address is the default. I have gone to my google account and I have removed the old e-mail address. but that has not solved the problem.
