Text Messages Read on Apple Watch Still Show as Unread on iPhone after Upgrade to iOS 26.

Up until the move to iOS 26, any text messages I read on my Apple Watch would subsequently show as read on my paired iPhone. Now, it requires that I separately clear the notification from both devices. Is anyone else having this issue or know of a fix? I was hoping iOS and WatchOS 26.1 would address it but the issue remains.
