iOS 26 'portrait in photo mode' broken

Since iOS 26

the 'portrait in photo mode' function didn't work

(it activated portrait mode when the phone detects human or animal in frame)

update to 26.1 still not fixed

My iPhone is 16 PM 512GB

the function worked on front camera but not the main camera

any suggestions?
