iPhone "Featured Photos" list keeps getting longer

iPhone 17 pro max, iOS 26--- but also a problem going back to my iPhone 13.

Following the iOS 18 update, the "Featured Photos" list just keeps getting longer. (This is *not* a problem on the iPad.)

Each day, a new collection of 8 to 12 pictures are presented as Featured Photos, but they're placed at the beginning of a queue that includes all the previously featured photos, going back months (on my older phone, or back to my purchase, on the new phone.)

I like Featured Photos; I like the little tour through my memories. But this is odd, new behavior, and it's only on the phone.

Turning the feature off and back on accomplished nothing.

It's not clear to me what the problem is. I see the same thing on my phone and iPad, and I'm surprised at how nice it is to go back to previous pictures. "Featured Photos" takes up no storage, and I don't have to look at it if I don't want to, so I can't see a downside this behavior. I did see it appear to reset at some point-- I was kind of disappointed. What is the difficulty you see, exactly?
