Photos application taking up double the storage.

I have seen number of similar issue and got closed without any solution.

I got the fix and it is working apart from so called fixes like clear the deleted folder,backup to icloud and all.

I have done this on a linux system. I belive you can do these steps in macbook for sure and probably on windows system using mobaxterm(or any other ssh client)

1. Connect your iPhone to your system. Probably you will see a error like "The file or folder 00008101-00091dc83ef1001e does not exist."(attached screenshot).

a. fix this like, Open terminal and run these command.

mkdir -p ~/iPhone

idevicepair validate

ifuse ~/iPhone

Post these you will see the iPhone internal folder structure, as shown in screenshot.

2. Now you will see the actual size of DCIM as well as PhotoData (this is cache).

3. You can delete bulky items from the PhotoData, I deleted the Mutations as it was consuming 20G. (attached screenshot).

4. Now your cache issue is sorted.

5. You might still wonder why I have to backup only almost half of the size as photos in iClould but in iphone storage photos app is consuming double the size(see the screenshot).

Caveat:- For me apple is suggesting to do icloud backup as 35G but photos actual size in iphone storage is ~70G.

For iCloud, Apple is compressing I believe as I have verified the size in the folder structure. See the screenshot. Total sum of my files are coming ~62G + thumbnail + cache.
