i inadvertently deleted a journal photo. is it possible to retrieve it ?

I have an iPhone 16 pro max. I was attempting to enlarge the photo but hit the X in the corner of the picture by mistake. The picture disappeared instantaneously. Is there anyway of retrieving this photo which I had taken from within the journal so no copy exists elsewhere as far as I know.

I am afraid, it is not possible to recover your photo. The "Recently Deleted" folder in the Journal.app allows us to recover deleted Journal entries, but not deleted photos. We can only recover the last version of an entry there, not an earlier version, where the photo has still be there.

It will be safer, to take your photos using the Camera.app directly, so they will be saved to Photos, if a photo is important to you.
