How do I add text over a photo in Photos on my iMac in system 26
I have searched for help on this and everything that I find says use Markup and then the text tool, but there is no text tool. Hope someone can help

First double click the photo to open it in Preview. Then, click the circle with the pen in it, on the top right toolbar:
A new menu will appear. Select the box with the letter 'A' in it:

On my MacBook Pro, the text tool is the fourth icon in the Markup palette
and looks like this:

Hmm, that's odd. When you click the box, the word 'Text' should pop up in the center, which you can then double click to edit. Is your font color visible on the photo?
Thank you. This is slightly different than what I found by searching. Is it not possible to do in Photos? When I click Markup in Photos, that little A box is there but does not let me type.
Ack - now it won't work! I did just what you said, clicked the box with the A in it but it only allowed me to draw a box but not to type text!
Also double click doesn't open it in Preview, but control click gives you the option. Still no way to type text over the picture!!
