OS 26 and the (broken?) link between iPhone and Watch

I took two series of 10 photos using my watch to trigger the iPhone camera. It is the first time when using OS 26.0.x (both Watch and iPhone has it). The camera responded as usual. On the spot, I did not review the photos, assuming that everything works as before under previous OS versions and the photos are saved. Hence, a surprise - they are NOT on my iPhone.

Anyone else with similar experience? Have you managed to recover the photos?

Did you already try to force restart your iPhone and Apple Watch?

Force restart iPhone - Apple Support

To force restart your watch, press and hold the Digital Crown and the Side button together for about 10sec, until the Apple logo comes back again.

Then try again to take a photo on your iPhone, using the Camera Remote on your watch.
