I was trying to switch back to my external booting drive and now it's stuck

For a while I had switched it back to booting on the main disk on my M1 MacBook Air but I was trying to go back to the external again and now it is stuck on support.apple.com/mac/restore before I had this issue and it would go away after a bit of playing around but sometimes I think honestly I just don't think it wants to read the disks for some reason because before it was working fine holding down the power button and booting from another media
