Text messages have not appeared through from period when using eSim overseas

Hoping for some suggestions to fix - tried a few resets ideas from searching online but no luck so far. I was away a couple weeks overseas where I had used an eSim. During this time communication was via WhatsApp and I was not able to receive any texts or imessages during the period I was away. No issue as I still had communication via WhatsApp.

However now returned and deleted the eSim and back to normal network, had expected any and all text messages to appear and come through for the couple weeks I was away. However that never happened - and nothing at all has appeared during that time. I know there have been many but they have not come through.

Texts and imessages work ok if being sent now, but trying to work out how to get those that were sent in the couple weeks I was away to come through. Frustrating as I have played around with a few settings - nothing seems to have made a difference. It has also been more than hours since returning so even allowed for a lag in things perhaps coming through.
