Messages "Block contact" will not update

Unwanted messages come through, and in eight steps (!!! grrrrrr) I can click on the message, click on the sender, click on info, click on “Block Contact”, and then, there is the confirmation, and as of a couple of days ago, that confirmation “Block Contact” does NOT work ! Boo hiss.
