MacBook Pro M3 Heating up

My Mac was running flawlessly, (new Mac user here). Recently did the update to Sequoia 15.7.1

Since the update, If I am plugged in or plug in my external drive, it heats up to a concerning level. Once I unplug, it cools back down. When I first updated a couple days ago it seems a little laggy but not bad now. Anyone have this issue and found a solution? Is this a bug in the update? Is there a way to revert back to the previous OS? I'm still learning here after a lifetime of windows so please be gentle with me. Things like this make me never want to update. Any advice out there?

It is possible there are processes running in the background that are using significant resources. Check Activity Monitor, CPU tab, sort by % CPU to see what's running hard. Right after an update, Spotlight will reindex your drive and that adds some load for a while.
