Sidecar display connection times out on macOS Tahoe and iPadOS 26
When I move my mouse pointer through the edge of my Mac Studio screen onto my iPad, it always appears on the iPad flawlessly. As soon as the pointer reaches my iPad, the iPad pops up in the display settings of my Mac Studio. This is Universal Control and it consistently works.
However, as soon as I try to activate Sidecar by selecting “Extended Monitor” or “Mirrored Display” in my Mac’s display settings, the iPad briefly immediately vanishes with the error message:
“Unable to connect to ‘iPad’. The device timed out.”
This cycle repeats endlessly. I am fully updated on macOS Tahoe and the latest iPadOS, both devices are trusted, on the same Wi-Fi, Bluetooth enabled, using an official USB-C cable, logged into the same Apple ID with two-factor authentication, everything is by the book.
We urgently need a real, functional solution—not a support script. Please address this Sidecar timeout issue in macOS Tahoe and iPadOS immediately.
