Recently deleted iMessage only available for few days not 30

Hi, I have been deleting a chat in iMessage, then wanted to recover it. The time limit in recently deleted however says only „4days“ instead of 30. 4 days might be the date that the first message in the chat is 30 days old.

so I have no problem recovering them, but I just want to know how I can make sure that if I delete something, I will be able to recover it for the full 30 days.

I would assume that the messages would delete sequentially- say you deleted some messages from a chat 25 days ago, and now they're at five days left. You delete more messages from the same chat, but it still says five days- it's referring to the first few messages you deleted, and in five days they'll be deleted, leaving only the messages you deleted much later (which will now show 25 days remaining).

My suggestion, however, would be to not delete anything you don't actually want to delete! The 'Recently Deleted' menu is more of an emergency backup than a storage folder.
