American flag emoji does not show up in my recent emojis

I use the American flag emoji multiple times per day, but it does not show up in my recently used. I have to search for it every single time. What is going on?! Every other emoji I use does, like the Icelandic flag, the potted plant, the nerd face…Seems very intentional.
