Apple Mail Version 16.0 (3864.100.1.1.5) for Mac OS 26 does not populate Sent folders for Gmail

The Mac OS 26 Tahoe Mail app Version 16.0 (3864.100.1.1.5) does not populate the Sent folders for Gmail accounts. Whereas, the Mac OS Sequoia Mail app Version 16.0 (3826.400.131.1.6) correctly populates sent mails into the Sent folders for Gmail accounts. See attached screenshots.

I have the same Gmail accounts set up on both the Tahoe build and the Sequoia builds of Mail app v 16.0. The Gmail accounts are properly setup on the Gmail settings with the Label option for the Sent Mail set to Show in IMAP. In the Tahoe build, only the All Sent folder populates aggregated sent mail messages from all of the Gmail accounts setup in the client. But the Sequoia build populates all messages sent in each respective Sent folders as well as the All Sent folder.

Why this regression with the new Mail app build?

Overnight, the each of the Gmail account's Sent folders did populate. I am being told:

Syncing sent items involves more than just downloading new messages; it also requires saving a copy of each sent message back to the server’s Sent folder, which can introduce delays especially if there are many sent messages or large attachments.

So, it ended up the issue was just my impatience and not having to notice that there was still sync'ing process underway... Mea culpa. 🙇🏻‍♂️

Yes, it works for me just fine on Tahoe. Gmail's implementation of IMAP is horribly non standard. If it was working for you on Sequoia an you upgraded that machine to Tahoe, you might try deleting the account and re-adding it.

So it is working for you on the Tahoe OS?

Not sure what the issue is if the Mail app on Sequoia OS works as expected, but not the latest build on Tahoe OS.

This would be evidence that the Gmail setting is set correctly. Screenshot below.

Forgot to mention...

Though the iOS Mail app is a completely different beast, my iPhone running the latest iOS 26 with its Mail app is working as expected with the Gmail account's Sent folder populating.

So another point supporting the Gmail server-side setting is not the issue.

Waiting to update my wife's MBP and check how her Tahoe OS Mail behaves.

It works fine for me.

That said, Google's IMAP implementation is terrible.

Check the settings on the gmail web site.
