Unable to share pictures to apps like Whatsapp from Photos app

Until recently (about 2 weeks, give or take), I was able to share pictures from Photos app to platforms like whatsapp. But of late I can’t- there is no Whatsapp icon visible on the share- only 3 icons are available i.e. Airdrop, Mail and Messages. When I tap the three dot menu next to it there is no option to add any other app too.

I remember clearly this wasn’t an issue at all until couple of weeks ago.
