is it possible to eliminate "see more from" in the mail app?

I'm new to Mac, but not new to iPhone.

In Mac Mail I've turned off "conversation grouping", I just hate it.

But the email in my inbox only shows the latest reply to me without the previous or any early content for context. I have to always hit the "see more from" link to expand it. I hate it.

Also despite me having turned off "conversation grouping" it still shows a ">" with a number of related messages. Help me kill this...

The reason why I mention iPhone is the mail in iPhone doesn't do this insanity.

When I open an email I want to see one email, and the full content of the body. Nothing else, no AI summary (usually wrong or so devoid of content it's entirely unhelpful), no grouping. Just imagine email from 20 years ago. That's what I want.

I'm ready to abandon the mail app for alternatives.

Help!

Disabling conversation view will stop Mail from grouping related emails together, which can reduce the context where the "See more from" link appears to show other messages in the thread.

On Mac 💻

  1. Open the Mail app.
  2. Go to the View menu in the top menu bar.
  3. Click to uncheck the option "Organize by Conversation" (or similar wording, depending on your macOS version).
