Magic Mouse will not connect unless plugged in

I am having trouble getting my Magic Mouse to connect to my iMac when I downloaded the last update everything was fine but now I can’t get the mouse to connect unless I plug it up and turn it on I tried forgetting the device multiple times still no luck can somebody help
