"Photos" section within Messages is gone

I recently upgraded my phone. I opted for the phone to phone transfer as I do not purchase icloud storage large enough to house everything. I have a lot of message history including photos, going back a long time for some people. Since switching to my new phone, there is no longer a photos section in the message info. I can scroll up in the messages and find the photos, but they used to have their own designated area for easy access. Links, documents, and locations sections DO appear in messages. I got the new phone 2 days ago so if it were an issue of the phone needing time to index, I would think that time would have passed by now. I have tried toggling siri and search on and off as recommended by other threads with no luck.
