Sync photos from Windows PC to Ipad - photos jumbled up

I created a folder on my PC for the photos with sub folders for different locations on my holiday.

Syncing this through itunes to my PC I end up with pictures all mixed up as though the folders didn't exist and the Photo App was making its own decisions on what order the photos should be in. The photos were a mixture of JPG and HEIC photos but both types were jumbled around.

Any thoughts anyone without changing my Windows PC for a Mac where apparently this problem doesn't occur

I'm guessing that the pictures have the right dates and times in their metadata, but that Explorer is not showing that. You should check the metadata of the pictures to see if that's the case-- on my Mac I use app "exif Tool Reader," which might be available to Windows-- there there are certainly Exif readers. You can also open a picture in most image viewing apps to see if they show the correct date and time.

If the metadata is OK, then the problem is with Explorer. You may be able to use an Exif editor to switch send the metadata Captured Time to the File Created time.
