Can’t add name to undetected face in the Photos app

How to id the person in the photo but does not have an icon to select. For example there are 3 people in the picture but only 2 Face ID are available to name how do it get the 3rd person on there to name?

It is not possible on an iPhone, only on a Mac.

In the Photos.app on the iPhone we can only name the faces that the app has recognized as a face.

As a work-around, write the names of all people into the caption of the photo, so a search for the name will find this photos as well.

If it's important for you to have everyone named, say, "Siobhan," together in an album, then you can make your own "Siobhan" album. Just copy everyone in from the Siobhan People album into an album you make. Then search for every picture with Siobhan in the caption (as léonie suggested,) and add those to your own Siobhan album. Having pictures in more than one album doesn't take up any more storage space, and it makes people easy to find.
