When screen shooting, you not only have to click the check mark but also click where to save it to. If you don’t the screen shot disappears.
Does anyone else (or tech support if you hear me) agree???? :
Should there be an option to enable or disable this feature of added layers to saving a screenshot?

I'm not sure what you mean.
When I take a screenshot it first appears in the corner of the Photos screen:
(A photo of my iPad-- I can't get a screenshot of a screenshot of a screenshot on my phone!)
And when I tap on the screenshot within a few seconds, I'm given the chance to share or trash or markup the picture.
I also get a "Done" button. That Button has
Choices, including "Delete"
On the other hand, if I don't tap on that little screenshot image in the lower corner right after I make the image, then it is saved so I can deal with it later.
How is this different for you?
