Interviewing for a job at Apple — followed up with recruiter, now the role shows “Unavailable” but no update or rejection

Hi everyone,

I recently interviewed for a Software Engineer position at Apple.

I had a 1:1 interview with the hiring manager on September 12,

I’ve sent a few polite follow-ups since then but haven’t received any updates.

Now, when I check my Apple job portal, the application status says “Unavailable.”

I haven’t received a rejection email or closure notice — so I wanted to ask:

  • What does “Unavailable” usually mean on Apple’s portal?
  • Does it indicate the role has been filled, or could the requisition have just been closed or moved internally?
  • Has anyone experienced this before and later heard back?

Thank you so much in advance for any insights!

Best regards,
