Disappearing messages sent to self on iPhone not syncing with iCloud

A few days ago messages sent to myself disappeared.

on iCloud account there are no messages. I checked settings and all is as it has been for years. It appears that message app is not synced, but is set up on phone to sync as always No messages icon there

I’ve seen messages to self disappear in the past but reappear in a day or so.

Help will be appreciated. TIA
