Search in Apple Mail client on Mac OS Tahoe

Since I have upgraded to Mac OS Tahoe Apple Mail does not find most of my emails from my Google Gmail account. This has worked properly on the previous OS but does not work on Tahoe (on both 26.0.0 and 26.01). Anybody experiencing the same problem or any advice on how to mitigate the issue?

As it is today, this makes the use of the Apple Mail app impossible.

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 26.0

I might suggest that you try using Spotlight and see if it can find the emails. If that doesn't work I might suggest you re-index your Mac with Spotlight. To find the screenshot below, click on System Settings and the Spotlight and on the right hand column scroll to the bottom and look for "Search Privacy". Follow the instructions below the screenshot.

  1. Open System Settings: by clicking the Apple logo () in the menu bar and selecting System Settings.
  2. Click Spotlight in the sidebar.
  3. Scroll down and click Search Privacy....
  4. Drag your entire hard disk (the one containing your files) into the list of locations that Spotlight is prevented from searching.
  5. Click Done.
  6. Immediately: repeat steps 4 and 5: Drag the same hard disk back into the list and click Done. This action triggers a reindex of your drive.
