WatchOS26.0.1 siri commands dont start or end workouts

After updating my iPhone 14, AirPods Pro 2, and watch Ultra to the 26 OSes, Siri commands over AirPods like “start outdoor walk” or “end workout” elicit an audible response from Siri, which indicates it’s starting the workout or ending it. But the watch never starts or stops the workout, and it must be done on the watch face. This continued across the 26.0.1 update.

Haven’t found other threads here like this. Known issue? Known fix?
