Apple Watch keep getting locked

After installing the most recent software update, my Apple Watch started locking itself continuously, even though it is securely strapped on my wrist. I already cleaned the back sensors, restarted the watch, and disabled Sleep Mode, but the issue persists. It seems like the software update may have caused this problem, but I’m not sure how to confirm that. Please advise.

My Apple Watch has been constantly locking itself since updating to iOS 26, even though I’m wearing it the same way as before and have never had any issues until this update. I’ve followed online instructions to fix it, but it’s clearly a software glitch. I’ve never had any problems with my tattoos affecting the watch until now. When using Apple Fitness, it doesn’t record properly or stops tracking because the watch keeps locking itself.

It’s really frustrating, I’ve had to turn off wrist detection because nothing online works. But doing that means I have to enter my passcode every time I use certain features, and I have to remember to turn wrist detection back on so my watch locks when it’s not on my wrist otherwise, some rando could just use it.
