synching music from iPhone to iMac

I have bought music from iTunes using the music app on my iPhone; when synchronizing the iPhone with the iMac I am unable to view or to synchronize upwards to the iMac, only downwards to the iPhone. When I log on to iTunes on the iMac (same user id) the system even forces me to buy the same record again - which is pretty annoying.
