How do I delete HEIC image files from an iMac 2024

That's weird. I AirDrop pictures from my phone to my Mac several times a day, and they always work. This is what it looks like:

How big is your file size--is it 0? When you right-click on it, what does it say "Open with…" with?

When I tried to trash the image file, I got an error warning, which reads like this: "Some of the items you are moving are in use by another application. Moving the items can cause problems with the application using them. Are you sure you want to move these items?" I am concerned about what moving these files to the trash might cause. How would you proceed to trash these unwanted image files?

I can't see any problem with moving the file to the trash, if it works. Some files can get stuck in the trash and don't seem to want to go away, but that's a different problem.

I would restart the Mac to clear some garbage away. You can also do a Safe restart. This bypasses certain potentially disruptive processes, and it often helps. Safe Mode is different for different computers, so see this:
