why do my photos appear darker on my iMac Pro than on my iPhone 15

I have adjusted the brightness on my Mac and the pictures do look better. Thanks.
To me, the pictures look pretty much the same on my Mac, my iPhone, and my iPad. (Of course,I always forget that I should turn the brightness up for looking at pictures. I usually keep it down some for looking at web pages and text.)
What happens if you adjust the editing settings on the Mac?
Oh-- how are you getting the pictures from your phone to your other devices? Do you use iCloud Photos? Do you use Optimize Storage?
