To see only photos in the library you could create a Smart Album with these criteria:
And to see only videos this Smart Album:
Actually, you don't need the u in the first SA.

It is a pity that Apple forgot to provide a separate album for photos only among the Media Kind collections. For videos, panoramas, screenshots, Raw photos, Live Photos etc.there are already separate collections. As a work-around, create your own album with photos only, select all photos in the filtered view and add them to a new album "Photos only". But you will have to update this album regularly as you add new photos.

Or you can use the Filter in Library:

The filter will hide the items that are not checked. To see only the Photos, not the videos, select in the Filter only the photos. If you want to see the photos plus the screenshots, set the checkmark for both the photos and screenshots, but not for the videos.
If you wish, you can find the videos under media type in photos and drag/drop or share and then delete.
I wish Apple would finally bring the smart albums back to the iPhone and iPad. I bought my first iPad when Apple made iPhoto available for the iPad and iPhone and we had smart albums and keywords on the mobile devices. But the iOS 8 upgrade killed them, ¡hasta siempre, iPhoto!
Since then my iPad has been turned into a book reader and I have to duplicate all smart albums on my Mac to be able to see them on toy iPad or iPhoto. The search on my iPhone used to be able to find the photos by keywords, but this does no longer work on iOS 18 and iOS 26 and iPadOS 26.
Can you still find your smart albums on the iPhone based on keywords?

Well, you can find photos by keywords on an iPhone (iOS 26), but mixed in with the same word in other text in metadata. At least it can be separate from text found within the image.

Drat-- same picture, wrong circle. Thanks for the correction.
I saw this function, however when done it goes back to its regular mishmashing everything. Its disappointing and its untidy and tedious of Apple
No problem, Richard. The filter options are not very consistent and manual page is very vague. It is trial and error when I am using the filter 😁
Scratch my reply. I didn't see that your issue was related to iPhones whereas my replay is related to Macs. 🤭
