put the headset into pairing mode first

and make sure they do not have an active connection with another device (many of mine likes to auto connect to my iphone when they are turned on so if I wish to pair them with say an ipad or computer I need to disconnect it from the iphone first)

how you go about putting your wireless headphones into pairing mode differ from model to model if you look in the documentation or the website of the manufacturer you can find a guide

or google

<headset model> pairing mode should give you some hits/hints
