Keyboard and mouse lag at initial log in on Mac, requiring power cycling

My keyboard and mouse both lag at initial log in and I have to turn both off and on again, sometimes more than once for them to catch up to me in real time. They are both fully charged and this issue has been happening intermittently for a while, but now it happens every morning on first log in. And if I’m off for a while, it’ll happen again in the same day.
