iPad Pro 6th gen with M2 Chip: Photos app freezing after 18.7 update

Since the 18.7 update, my Photos app has been freezing up. I’m using an iPad Pro 6th generation with M2 chip. Photos starts off okay, but after a few minutes just freezes on me. It happens when I’m using the feature that selects part of a photo that I can copy and paste into Procreate.

So you're also running Procreate at the same time? In Photos, are you using Crop or Screenshot or what? Can you give details?

Are you using iCloud Photos?

Are you using Optimize Storage?

Where did these pictures come from? From the camera or what?

Have you tried a forced restart of the iPad?

Force Re-start iPad

This is different from a simple Power Off. For me, the logo appears way after the Power Off notice.
