Long press an app icon and you get the options to Add to Home Screen, Share App, Require Face ID, and Delete App - three options do what they say but the Share App one only gives the option to send a link to the app on the app store, which is something different and not the described functionality.

Sharing any thing such as a news story, an item in a web store, or in this case an app, just creates a link to the object. It is entirely consistent with the general definition of sharing on the web.
It would be consistent if it related to the Internet - but sharing an app which is on my phone (not Internet) via Bluetooth (not Internet) shouldn't have anything to do with sharing on the web. KIf the option was Share a link to the App then yes, but Share App no.
"Share app" just shares a link to the app on the app store?
