Spatial effect not working on iphone 16 plus

Are you using iCloud Photos and are some photos only stored in iCloud and not downloaded to your iPhone to optimize storage?
Then it might help to view the photo enlarged in Photos to force a download from iCloud, before you try to enable a spatial effect on your wallpaper photo.
I found it worked more reliable to do it this way and to start from the Photos.app:
- Make sure, the iPhone has a stable Wi-Fi connection
- Make sure, the iPhone has plenty of free storage to be able to download the photo from iCloud.
- Select the photo on Photos and open it, then tap the "spatial" button.
- Tap the share button and use the Sharing option "Use as background".
- Then I can turn the spatial effect on for the lock screen.
