I bought the new 17 Pro and I'm on the hotel website. I'm transferring and syncing from my 14. Messages and emails are reported as paused and I'm told to connect to wifi (it is). My phone is fully charged. All my apps have been synced but not so their data.
If I find a better wifi, will syncing resume?
Can I just connect to my ipad hotspot?

I know that when I use my iPhone for a hot spot on my Mac, iCloud Drive syncing still works.
Keep in mind that since syncing uses the battery, and since lots of people are very anxious about battery drain, the iPhone will avoid syncing when not plugged in. And since syncing uses processing power, and people hate slow-downs, the iPhone will avoid syncing while you use it. And since syncing requires bandwidth, the iPhone will avoid syncing when the internet connection is weak.
So, if you want faster syncing, then find good wifi, plug the phone in, and leave it alone. All this applies to a lesser extent for the Mac.
