Apple Pencil 1st gen stops writing on iPad 6th gen

I have the Apple Pencil 1st gen and iPad 6th gen. When writing on my iPad the pencil just suddenly stops writing. Battery hold charge and pencil connects to iPad without issue. I’ve tried disconnecting and reconnecting to iPad, changing pencil tip and tried different apps. Any advice is appreciated. Thank you.
