macOS Tahoe: Short Cuts Menu Bar items do not show up in Menu Bar. Why?

In previous macOS versions Shortcuts could be placed in a folder (Menu Bar) that then could be displayed as a drop down menu from the menu bar. Currently you can create the Shortcuts and place them in the folder labeled "Menu Bar" but there is no way to get the folder/icon to show up in the actual Menu Bar. You can add a button in Control Center to get to a popup window that displays your Menu Bar shortcuts (which require scrolling through) which adds steps and screen distance to open your chosen shortcut.

Am I missing something that would get the old functionality back?

To be clear, are you talking about how folder shortcuts drug into the Menu Bar no longer show as folder icons, but rather, something like this?

If so, I would also love to solve this problem. I have multiple folders in my Menu Bar but in macOS Tahoe they all look exactly like this. I'd like them to maintain their color/icon or at least show as a folder icon. As it is, they get lost when I minimize documents and emails.

That is the Dock, not the Menu bar. That is the icon of an alias to something. The Dock has not been able to display the actual icon in quite some time.
