Apple Pencil Pro became unusable since iPadOS 26 update

Hi,

Since updating to iPadOS 26 my Apple Pencil Pro keeps disconnecting. Disabling and re-enabling Bluetooth or rebooting the iPad fixes the issue for a short minute, but then become unresponsive. Even the touch buttons don’t respond.

When I magnetically attach the pencil I do see a notification followed by the battery status.

Any ideas or is this a “wait for the next update” kind of situation?
