Magic Keyboard battery level not showing on Macbook Pro with Sonoma 14.7.8

I got a brand new Magic Keyboard to use with my MacBookPro (14" - 2023) running Sonoma 14.7.8.

I am able to connect the keyboard to the laptop and use it.

However, two things are not working:

  • The battery level indicator does not show
  • I am not able to use the volume up/down keys ( on the F11/F12 )

While both my mouse and AirPods battery levels are shown, I don't see any thing in my system preferences to display the battery level pf the keyboard.

Can you please help me?

Thanks,

Andrea

Hi Andrea,

Did you get the Magic Keyboard with a USB-C port? If so, this model requires macOS Sequoia 15.1 or later.

If your Mac cannot use this version of macOS, return the keyboard and get the Magic Keyboard with a Lightning port. You won’t find it on the Apple website but other resellers might gave it.

Ah! Good to know, yes it's a USB-C magic keyboard and I didn't know it was mandatory to have Sequoia.

My Mac support macOS Sequoia but my company is still delivering only Sonoma upgrades and I cannot install Sequoia.

Unfortunately I think I'll need to wait for it before being able to see battery levels!

Thanks,

Andrea
