Magic Keyboard shuts off iPad

Sometimes, when I shut my magic keyboard, my iPad shuts off completely instead of just going to sleep (I have to press and hold the lock button to power it up again).

The device in question is an 11" iPad Pro (M4). I used to have an M1 iPad Pro, but it never had this issue.

If this had only happened once or twice I'd have thought it was a fluke, but I've owned the iPad now for maybe three months and this occurs at least once a week.
