Synching my google and apple calender

I own a macbook that isn't portable and stays at home, and also a chromebook which I bring to school. How can I sync the calender on both so that I can add events to one of the calenders and it shows up on the other.

Why aren't subscribed calendars synced to iCloud yet? This is a major disadvantage. I want to be able to sync my subscribed calendars to iCloud. This is especially useful because my iCloud calendar can sync to my work scheduling system. This sync is useless because no subscribed calendars can be seen or checked to cross reference availability.
