calendar search is not working

Go to Settings > Apps > Calendar > Search, turn off the 2 settings, restart your iPhone and turn those settings back on. Wait a few minutes for the search index to rebuild.

Tried this multiple times (iPhone 13Pro/iOS26) and waited for a re-index but search fails, even on new events. If I type in a single letter that happens to match an event name first letter, I get results only from 2012. Searches work on my Mac running Sequoia 15.7 and iPad iOS71.7.10. My calendar is populated all the way back to 2011. I can see all events on all three platforms.
