Either add a payment method that is valid or use a Gift Card to pay for the pending charge. The current payment would most likely be determined that it is no longer valid after a repeated attempt to charge it has failed.
It is still the case that a valid payment method may still need to be on file even after the pending charge has been resolved. You can see that in step 2 here:
