Apple Wallet security breach: Unauthorized transactions on multiple credit cards

Actually you weren’t talking to your bank, banks don’t call to confirm large transactions. Scammers pretend to be the bank. Banks block suspicious transactions before they approve them. Scammers trick you obtain additional personal and financial information from you and go after additional accounts you have.

“Don't answer suspicious phone calls or messages claiming to be from Apple or your bank. Instead, contact Apple or your bank directly through official support channels.”

”To report a suspicious SMS text message that looks like it's supposed to be from Apple or your bank, take a screenshot of the message and email the screenshot to reportphishing@apple.com.”

Without more detailed info, and to be clear, your Wallet or Apple Pay was likely NOT breached. (and there’s truly nothing exploitable IN your wallet anyway)

Did you bank actually state that they were “ApplePay” transactions ?

What more likely might have happened was that your credit cards were compromised using an “old fashioned / tried-and-true” method and - if they were ApplePay transactions - subsequently installed in a criminal’s ApplePay device.

This can only happen with your bank’s concurrence and approval.

Perhaps the criminals had access to other personal info — used by your bank for ApplePay verifications — which were obtained thru another compromise.
