cannot search past events on Calendar app in new Apple iPad (A16)

New iPad A16 & I cannot Search past events on apple calendar app. No issue with searching future events or with syncing new events with iPhone.

I have tried restarting my iPad, 

Turned iCloud calendar off, restarted iPad, turned iCloud calendar back on; but it made no difference.  The only

difference I can see when I check the settings on IPhone (15), is that iCloud shows iCloud calendar: On  & Calendar App (On), whereas on new iPad, iCloud shows iCloud calendar: On but there is no Calendar App listed?
